I am a TESL grad with over 10 years of teaching experience! 6 years of experience as an English editor for STPM. I hope to share and impart as much as I can across levels of proficiency.

My core expertise is in English, with a minor in Malay. I can also do translation and proofreading. I am able to tutor English and Malay across the age range from preschoolers up to diploma and matriculation level. I can also tutor English for sitting for Internationally based syllabus such as the Cambridge IGCSE as I have been exposed to it during my examination management course in Cambridge, UK; and I have 2  years of teaching experience in MCIIUM (Matricukation campus of UIA).

I first engaged Cikgu Mariaâ€™s teaching services for my son during the school holidays of 2013, as he was struggling on the subject of IGCSE English. She was very professional and methodical in her approach, by first having an informal discussion with my son and I on what are our expectations. When I brought up the subject on study skills, during her first two classes, she was able to teach my son specific study skills that I find very invaluable (i.e. speed reading and mind mapping skills).

Her English classes are also quite interactive, and this gave my son ample opportunity to express his opinions and be critical on the discussion topics. During classes, she instructs my son to focus and identify on the important contents of an essay or an article. She also challenges my son to ask questions and when asked, to think thoroughly before answering.

I am grateful that she is able to teach my son during the school holidays and I would not hesitate to engage her services again in the future.
